The minister thanked Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao for ordering the department of Panchayat Raj to hand over the reservoirs under its jurisdiction to the fisheries department in rural areas. He said efforts will be made to transfer all water bodies under municipal jurisdiction to the fisheries department.
Chairing the meeting of the Fishermen’s Coordination Committee held at the MCR HRD Institute of Telangana State here, Srinivas Yadav said that the Coordination Committee was formed to resolve the long-outstanding issues regarding fishermen. He assured that the state government will take all measures to protect the rights of fishermen in the state and Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao had launched the free distribution of fishing for the benefit of all castes among fishermen. The state government is releasing approximately 93 crore in fish and 10 crore in shrimp in various bodies of water in the state this year. He urged the fishing community to work in unison to use government programs and improve their standard of living.

The minister asked committee members to conduct a field study to gain a deeper understanding of the issues facing fishermen in the state and to make recommendations to improve conditions. He called on Fisheries Commissioner Latchiram Bhukya to take action to resolve the outstanding issues in accordance with existing standards. He assured to take charge of the creation of new fishermen’s societies and also to proceed to the registration of the members of the societies in the areas where there are no objections. The next coordination meeting will be held on October 11 after the Coordination Committee has completed the study tour to the districts of Nirmal, Adilabad and Sangareddy.
Rajya Member Sabha Banda Prakash, MP Mutha Gopal, Livestock Secretary Anita Rajendra, Fisheries Commissioner Latchiram Bhukya, Gangaputra Joint Action Committee Chairman Deeti Mallaiah, Mudiraj Sangham Choppari Shankar Representative and other members of the coordinating committee also attended the meeting.
