Aussie Angler films himself fighting three sharks in shallow water, watch viral video
An intrepid angler filmed himself fighting not one but three sharks trying to snatch his catch, before chasing him into the shallows. While the fisherman ultimately won the man-shark tug fight, but in a sense he also redefined extreme angling after bravely fending off deadly predators who attempted to steal his catch.
According to a New York Post report, Cooper Watson was fortunate enough to escape without being bitten after a close encounter with three black tip sharks. Watson was fishing off the Cocos Islands on the west coast of Australia on Sunday when the incident occurred. The shocking ordeal, which was filmed, begins with Watson hooking up a fish as it stood up to its thighs in the crystal-clear waters near the islands. The cheerful fishing scene instantly changes when a black tip shark walks into the frame and tries to snatch the fish from its hands. However, Watson was quick enough to grab hold of his catch, which was a trevally, as the sharks around him tried to grab hold of the prey.
The sequence then passes to the trevally swimming in the waters while remaining attached to the rod. But a second shark appears, which leaps up and bites the fish, spilling blood into the ocean. The smell of the fish’s blood quickly attracts the other two sharks and they begin to circle the prey. A determined Watson, however, manages to get past the sharks by kicking the shallows, all the while shouting obscenities at thieving predators.
